The Fifteen Percent Pledge is a racial equity and economic justice non-profit organization addressing the inequities that exist throughout the American consumer economy and working towards a more equitable economic future. In recognition that Black people in the U.S. make up nearly 15% of the population, Fifteen Percent Pledge is calling on major retailers and corporations to commit a minimum of 15% of their annual spend to Black-owned businesses, in addition to other internal efforts to support diversity, equity, and inclusion across their companies.
The organization was founded in 2020 by entrepreneur and fashion pioneer Aurora James, and since its launch, over 25 major companies, including Macy’s Inc., Bloomingdales, Sephora, West Elm, Ulta Beauty, Gap Inc., and Rent the Runway, have committed to the Pledge, dedicating 15% of their shelf space to Black-owned brands; in addition to other internal efforts to support diversity, equity, and inclusion across their companies. Indigo, Canada’s largest bookstore, also committed to the Pledge, becoming the first Canadian company to do so. InStyle U.S. and Vogue U.S. have committed to filling 15% of their space to Black voices.
We are searching for a creative and highly motivated Content Assistant to join our team in North Hollywood, Los Angeles. The Content Assistant will support the Social Media Director in researching and creating engaging content for our social media platforms and cultivating our community online.
Job Functions
● Research, concept, and edit posts for social media.
● Source content we can amplify to support our network of Black founders.
● Supported project management of creative production.
● Play an active part in building and nurturing our engaged online community through daily community management hours.
● Maintain the content calendar and content outreach email account.
● Produce lo-fi video content from events and pop-ups.
● Monitor social media metrics and support with reporting.
Skills and Experience
● An undergraduate student or recent graduate with interest in pursuing a career in content, marketing, or communications.
● Proficient in social media platforms with experience creating content for Instagram and TikTok.
● Proficient in using Google platforms.
● Familiar with Canva or the Adobe suite.
● Interested in creating content that creates social impact.
● Enthusiastic, creative, and eager to learn.
You have
● Basic skills in editing programs for content.
● An eye for design and an interest in visual storytelling.
● Strong research and writing skills.
● Your finger on the pulse of social trends and current affairs.
● Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Salary and Benefits:
- Full-time position offered at $25 hourly
- Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday in-office in North Hollywood. Wednesday and Friday remote
